| 50 Cent Faces 5 Years for Assault on Ex |
Rapper and actor 50 Cent faces has pleaded not guilty on charges that he attacked his ex-girlfriend and trashed her condo. The singer, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, appeared in a courtroom in Van Nuys, California on Monday morning. If convicted, the In Da Club singer faces up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines.
As with all domestic violence cases in California, Jackson must keep at least 100 feet away from his accuser, named in court as Daphne Narvaez, and must not seek to contact her or any family members while the case is active. A Los Angeles County judge also ordered the Candy Shop singer to submit any weapons in his possession to law enforcement within the next 24 hours. The charges against Jackson stem from a police report filed by Narvaez claiming that the performer destroyed property at her Toluca Lake condo on June 23. Narvaez says she locked herself in her bedroom only to have Jackson break open the door and kicked her, causing injury. Police estimated about $7,100 in damage to the home.
